I am thou... Thou art I.
Thou who art willing to perform all sacrilegious acts for thine own justice!
Call upon my name, and release thy rage!
Show the strength of thy will to ascertain all on thine own, though thou be chained to Hell itself!

Alright, so, ignore the big winged guy in this pic for now. That's Arsene, Akira's Persona. It'll become important once he hits level 2, enters the Astral Realm consciously, and regains the ability to use it. For now, the important bit is the bottom two; the school uniform being Kurusu Akira, and the man in the white mask being the Joker, leader of the Phantom Thieves. Both of these people are Akira, but he likes the distinction. Helps him compartmentalize. The main distinction is the way the two different aliases carry themselves.

The high schooler Kurusu Akira is a calm, introverted individual, possessed of a friendly disposition and a way with people and words. On the surface, he appears genial and easygoing, but his behavior stems from a deeply seated issue; Akira was abandoned by his parents for doing what was ultimately the right thing, sent to live with a complete stranger in Tokyo (though Sakura Sojiro was a wonderful influence on him, that's beside the point right now). He constantly worries that people are going to abandon him the second things get difficult, which is why he tries his best to be a positive individual and not make waves. From time to time, Kurusu Akira indulges in a little dry sarcasm, but never when he thinks it would actually offend someone. Of course, all of the anger, restlessness, and rashness is still there, under the surface, and it has to get out some time.

That's where the Joker comes in. While the clothes weren't really important to begin with, they were made from Akira's mental image of a "rebel". Combined with how he accepted the personification of his repressed desires and emotions, his Shadow, Akira can become the person he wants to be when he puts on the mask. When he's the Joker, Akira is a suave, extroverted Phantom Thief, confident in his skills, free with his razor-sharp, dry wit, and more than willing to stand up for his own justice, no matter what people say about it. In many ways, the Joker is an inversion of Akira's normal behavior, but they're the same person in that no matter which side of himself is showing at the moment, he believes in justice, fairness, and personal freedom.

In RPG terms, Akira is definitely Chaotic Good, willing to deceive, cheat, and steal to get what he wants but ultimately trying to do things that benefit people, rather than using his skills for personal gain. He has little regard for law and order, though he doesn't hold that against the people who try to enforce it. He dislikes governments because of the restrictions they place on personal liberty, but he acknowledges them as necessary to prevent widespread suffering and crime. His problem with government, in all forms, is that it serves as a breeding ground for corrupt, distorted desires; politicians who view the world as simply a stepping stone to greater power, police commissioners who abuse their authority to sleep with their subordinates, and all kinds of other corrupt government officials. Beyond that, he hates any form of authority abuse; the first Phantom Thief victim was just a twisted volleyball coach who thought he was the king of his own little world, and made everyone's lives miserable by abusing his position.

Abuse of power usually stems from a distortion in worldview, and Akira is just fine with that, or was, because he could do something about that. The Metaverse was a great tool, and he loved that it allowed him to make a difference. His second-largest fear, right after his sizeable and justified abandonment issues, is helplessness. It's that fear that allowed him to act that night when some corrupt politician was trying to assault a woman he'd never met before. More than almost anything, Akira hates being helpless. He despises being unable to act, unable to change things.

Moves!

Black Kogatana (300 OM): A simple, jet-black, double-edged dagger just a little over a foot in total length, this weapon is made of a material from the Metaverse that readily accepts being infused with a Persona, and thus serves as an excellent weapon for Akira, though it cannot generate any sort of power on its own and is, by itself, just a simple knife.

Model Gun (300 OM): A jet-black model 9mm handgun, modeled after a P226, that Akira can use as though it were a real firearm. It, like the Kogatana, is able to readily accept Persona energy, but it defaults to firing "bullets" that Akira's power creates in the chamber right before firing. Akira can aim and fire one bullet every second, or twice that if he doesn't need to aim at all (for example, if the gun is pressed up against something or he just needs to make noise), but this gun is inaccurate past about 30 feet and can only fire eight bullets before it needs to be "reloaded". As it's a model gun, the clip doesn't come out, so the reloading process consists of Akira concentrating on the weapon for three seconds and pre-loading it with the requisite power to make eight more "bullets". To all inspections, it appears to be a model gun made out of an unknown metal; it's only special in Akira's hands.
